It's Potty Time

I can't believe how fast the time is flying by...just a few short hours and we will be celebrating Lauren's 2nd birthday!! Crazy...and a little tougher for me than expected. She has grown and changed so much this summer, it is unbelievable. And her vocabulary has expanded immensely. She mimics almost everything we say, good or bad.

She's an old pro at numbers 1-10 and can even count as high as 15 now. I keep trying to get a bit of that on video to share, but she is usually so mesmerized by herself on camera that she has no further interest in anything else. Colors and shapes are coming as well and almost everything she sees is either blue or red at first, but eventually she gets the right color. She has developed quite a little personality as well as an attitude! She has some how learned that she doesn't HAVE to do everything we say, well, that's what she thinks anyway and is definitely asserting her new-found independence.

The summer has been a busy one of course. We have been up to the lake a few times and even took Lauren on her first ride on the tube behind the boat. She is going to be a little fish, I just know it!! She wasn't the least bit freaked out and actually had the most fun when we went fast enough to catch a few waves!! Little daredevil!
July was full of fun and family. Both Grant and I had relatives in town over the 4th of July weekend. And we participated in the Kramer, ND Centennial as that is where the Tagestad "Vacation Home" is located. It was a great time and Lauren was able to be part of the parade. She rode on the firetruck with Daddy and also was on the Tagestad Grey Goose float.

The biggest news so far is that Lauren used her potty chair for the first time on Sunday. She and I had gone to Minot with Mom & Dad and we had just gotten home and she told Granma (Mom) she needed to go potty. This had been going on for a while but she usually just sat there for a few minutes and nothing would happen. Well, this time it did! We are so proud of her and are hoping that more will follow! Anything that involves a sticker and a treat for a reward is okay in her book!!

She's just growing up so fast....wish time would slow down just a bit!! But, we enjoy every moment with her. And she has become such a Daddy's girl, which is so sweet! It's so much fun to watch them together.

Until next time!

My First Blog

Well, here it is....my first post. I am not really a blogger, but thought I would give it a try to keep everyone updated on our EXCITING lives here in Bottineau! The most exciting news recently is that Grant became one of the newest members of the Bottineau City Council on Tuesday! We are so proud of him and know he will do a great job!

Lauren is growing by leaps and bounds right now and is coming up on her SECOND birthday!! Hard to believe! She can count to ten, puts puzzles together like a pro, is using more words every day and loves to sing, her favorite song being "Winnie the Pooh" or "Winnn Poooh, Winn Poooh" as she likes to say. She is running everywhere and keeps us very busy! She loves to be outside and we are finally getting some spring weather here in the Four Seasons playground so we are able to get outside more. We have a backyard playset and she loves swinging and going down the slide. We also take bike rides around town and she talks the whole time!

Here are some pics from our
Mother's Day trip to the Minot Zoo. It was so much fun and she loved seeing all the animals, especially the 'kittys' (as in a lion, a snow leopard, two tigers and another leopard!!!) and the donkey in the petting zoo as you can tell!

The summer is shaping up to be a busy one. We are excited to get out on the lake and do some camping and also some projects around the house. Right now Grant is busy finishing the work in our entryway. He has been doing most of it by himself and is becoming quite a pro at sheetrocking, wiring and flooring! It will be so nice to have it finished for so many reasons!

Till next time!
Jess
