Well, it's official. For those of you that have been expecting this day, it has finally come. I can now say with certainty that Lauren is irrationally as afraid of bugs as her mother....she just happened upon one of these poor creatures and let out a scream so terrifying, I knew some stranger must be in our house trying to kidnap her. As I lept from my seat and knocked over several things in my path to get to her, she continued to scream and then cry and tried to get words out to explain the vile creature capable of pure torture.
It was just a bug. Poor kid, too many times having heard Mommy scream at the site of a spider (I swear it was the size of an apple!!!), I guess. I realize that in my lifetime, I will be imparting some of my traits upon her, just not sure the irrational ones are the best for her to learn first.
So, I will do my best from now on to look at those creatures with more legs than I care to count as a two year old should, with awe and wonder....but from a safe distance!

Happy Easter!
A Very Successful Bribe
So, since I knew that Grandma Loey would be staying with Lauren the nite of Curious George and we would be out past her bedtime, I decided to try a little bribe to make sure she went to sleep relatively close to bedtime. And, no, I am not above bribing my two-year old, I just don't make a habit of it!
So, in the days leading up to this, I told her if she was really good for Grandma and went right to sleep at bedtime, she would get a special ice cream treat from the Dairy Queen the next day. And of course, like clockwork, it was the first thing she asked for when she woke up on Saturday. I was able to put the treat off until after lunchtime. So we got in the car to head to Dairy Queen, but I wanted to run past the Fairgrounds to check out the circus that was going on later that day.
Of course the little smarty pants knew right away we weren't heading to get ice cream, so for the entire drive up Main Street, she proceeded to ask me a hundred questions as to what we were doing and I tried to explain without mentioning the circus. Finally, after she had enough, she gave a big sigh and said "Oh, I just can't take it anymore" in her most serious grown up voice! I had tears I was laughing so hard!

Curious George
Here are some pics from the reading event held in town a couple weekends ago. Grant and I were busy with the Firemen and their wives, so Grandma Loey took Lauren up to the college to have some fun. They had lots of activities like face painting (she talked about that for days after!), reading some books, making her own book and meeting Curious George himself. It was a great time for Lauren and Grandma.
